Re(ad)cap Q3

Happy Spooky Season and welcome to the Episode notes for our Q3 Re(ad)cap episode! Before we get into books and wine, here are some of the links to products discussed:

White Barn White Pumpkin Candle not to be confused with the non-White Barn White Pumpkin Candle: White Pumpkin 3-Wick Candle - White Barn | Bath & Body Works (bathandbodyworks.com)

Sally's Baking Addiction, specifically the Baked Apple Cider Donuts: Baked Apple Cider Donuts - Sally's Baking Addiction (sallysbakingaddiction.com)

Laura may have a problem y'all.

She has a donut obsession.

If you liked this...read that

  • If you liked the Dutch House, read A Long Petal of the Sea by Isabel Allende

  • If you liked the movie Country Strong, read The Unsinkable Greta James by Jennifer E. Smith

  • If you liked the Silent Patient, read Blood Sugar by Sascha Rothchild

  • If you liked A Flicker in the Dark, read Watching You by Lisa Jewell

  • If you liked Gone Girl, read The Last Ms. Parrish by Liv Constantine

  • If you liked The Idiot, read Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin

  • If you liked Other People's Clothes, read Verity by Colleen Hoover

  • If you liked Animal, read The Devil Takes You Home by Gabino Iglesias

Other Reading Notes

  • RomComs! I read Meant to Be by Emily Giffin, The Bodyguard by Katherine Center and Funny You Should Ask by Elissa Sussman. My favorite of this year is Funny You Should Ask (Sorry the audio cut out)

  • The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides - Andrea Bartz was correct, the book is better than the movie.

  • The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer - a good read for bettering oneself. It is respectful of all religions

  • When the Apricots Bloom by Gina Wilkinson - a great book based on a true story set in wartime. A great story about friendship

  • The Alice Network by Kate Quinn - I prefer The Rose Code

  • Survive the Night by Rilet Sager - a lot of twists

  • The Liar's Dictionary Eley Williams - very interesting read; not what I was expecting

  • Cackle by Rachel Harrison - an easy entertaining read for spooky season

  • The Manningtree Witches by A.K. Blakemore - great book but think Scarlet Letter in verbiage. A harder spooky season read. (Sorry the audio cut out)

Sipcap

Bota Box - Nighthawk Black

  • Red Blend

  • 4 bottles of wine in one box

  • Stays good for one month

Vanderpump Rose

  • Cote de Provence grapes

  • Dry Rose - has acidity and pepperiness

  • 13% ABV

And don't forget to read Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets for our October book! This is Laura's favorite, so you know she is going all out!
